Read one book.
Around one table.
With people who build.

The idea

Most business events have a stage. We have a table.

Someone at the front. Everyone else in rows. A polite Q&A at the end where two people ask questions and the rest check their phones. You leave inspired for an afternoon, then nothing changes.

The Entrepreneurs Book Club has no speaker, no slide deck and no networking break. Everyone reads the same chapters, and everyone turns up ready to talk. That is the whole format, and it works better than anything with a stage ever has.

Stages create audiences. Tables create participants. When six experienced founders look at the same page, they see more than any one of them would alone.

"The best business conversations I have had this year happened over a book and a coffee, for less than the price of a round."

How it works

A simple rhythm, held every month.

No homework you will dread. Around four hours a month, reading included.

01

We read together

One book at a time, two or three chapters a month. You read at your own pace, on your own time. The reading is the easy part.

02

We meet for the morning

One weekday morning a month, in person in the Midlands, over breakfast. Around two hours. Everyone has done the reading and everyone contributes.

03

We carry it on

The conversation keeps going in our members' WhatsApp group between meetings. A question, a quote, a problem someone is sitting on.

Who it is for

A room is only as good as the people in it.

We keep the group small and we choose for fit, both ways. Here is the honest version of who thrives here and who does not.

This is for you if

  • You own or lead a business and take your own growth seriously.
  • You read, or you have been meaning to, and you want a reason to actually finish the book.
  • You are based in or near the Midlands and can make one morning a month.
  • You will turn up prepared and bring something to the conversation.
  • You would rather be challenged than flattered.

This is not for you if

  • You are looking for a networking event to hand out cards at.
  • You want a speaker, a stage and a takeaway PDF.
  • You will dip in and out and skip the reading.
  • You want to sell to the room rather than think with it.
  • £47 a month feels like a cost rather than the price of better thinking.
Membership

Twelve seats. One of them could be yours.

We are not building an audience. We are building a table, and a table only seats so many. We cap the club at twelve members on purpose. At twelve, everyone speaks, everyone is challenged, and there is nowhere to hide.

Membership runs month to month. No long contract, no joining fee. If it is not for you, you leave. Most people who join do the opposite.

Who runs it

Started by two business owners who wanted the room they could never find.

A year ago this was a WhatsApp message to a few people we respected: do you want to read a book together? No business plan. Just a question.

Co-founder

Founder of Clarigen, where he helps professional services firms grow. Rich started the club because the best conversations he had about business were never at conferences. They were over a book, with people who were building something too.

Greg Ford

Co-founder

A business owner who believes the hardest part of running a company is making decisions without anyone around you who understands the weight of them. Greg co-founded the club to fix exactly that, for himself and for everyone else at the table.

Questions

The things people ask before they join.

No. We read two or three chapters a month, at your own pace. That is the point of doing it as a group. The deadline keeps you honest and the conversation makes the reading worth it.
We take the chapters everyone has read and talk about what they mean in practice. Not academic analysis. Real questions about pricing, hiring, risk, growth and the decisions you are sitting on right now. No speaker, no slides.
Often, yes. We sometimes open a seat for a guest to attend one meeting with no fee and no obligation. Request an invitation and tell us a little about you, and we will let you know when the next opening is.

Tell us a bit about you.

The club is invitation-only and we choose for fit. This is not a hard sell. We will read what you send, and if it looks like a good match we will get back to you about coming along, usually within a couple of days.

We will only use your details to reply about the club. No lists, no spam.
